Equations
Gr 10

The Grade 10 Equations module builds on the foundations established in earlier grades and introduces learners to more advanced algebraic problem-solving techniques. This chapter focuses on developing a deep understanding of how equations work, how to manipulate them correctly, and how to apply algebraic reasoning to a range of increasingly complex situations.

Lessons cover solving linear equations with brackets and fractions, equations involving variables on both sides, and equations requiring multiple steps and careful simplification. Learners are also introduced to quadratic equations in their simplest form, laying the foundation for full quadratic solving in Grade 11. Throughout the module, emphasis is placed on systematic working methods, checking solutions, and interpreting problems accurately.

By the end of this chapter, students will be able to solve linear equations confidently, approach multi-step algebraic problems with structure and clarity, and use equation-solving techniques in real-life word problems and higher-level algebra—setting them up for success in the senior grades.
