The Grade 10 Parabola module introduces learners to quadratic functions and helps them understand how these curved graphs behave on the Cartesian plane. This chapter forms a key foundation for more advanced work with quadratics, algebra, and calculus in later grades.

Learners begin by exploring the standard form of the parabola, y=ax2+qy = ax^{2} + qy=ax2+q, and examining how the values of aaa and qqq affect the shape and position of the graph. The lessons cover identifying the turning point, determining the axis of symmetry, analysing the direction of opening, and sketching parabolas using table values or key features. Students also learn how to interpret real-life contexts modelled by quadratic functions and how to compare different parabolic graphs.

By the end of this module, learners will be able to recognise, sketch, and analyse parabolas confidently, interpret the effects of parameter changes, and use quadratic functions effectively in problem-solving—preparing them for more complex quadratic equations, transformations, and functions in Grades 11 and 12.
