Statistics
Gr 11
The Grade 11 Statistics module develops learners’ ability to collect, organise, analyse, and interpret numerical data. This chapter helps students understand how statistical measures describe real-world situations and provides essential tools for decision-making, comparisons, and data-driven reasoning.
Learners begin by revising data types and methods of representation before exploring key statistical measures such as mean, median, mode, and range. The lessons also introduce more advanced concepts, including percentiles, quartiles, interquartile range, and the identification of outliers. Students learn to construct and interpret box-and-whisker plots, histograms, and ogives, and to analyse how data is spread and distributed. Emphasis is placed on interpreting results in context, drawing meaningful conclusions, and understanding when each measure is appropriate.
By the end of this module, learners will be able to summarise data accurately, compare datasets using statistical techniques, and interpret graphical representations with confidence—skills that are essential for both Grade 12 Statistics and real-life data analysis.
